A 61-year old private bus driver, Toh Kny Lam, was sentenced to 1 week’s imprisonment and disqualified from holding a driving licence for 5 years after pleading guilty to an offence of having caused the death of a motorcyclist at a road junction.
On 11 December 2014, Toh had been driving a bus along Tuas Avenue 1 when he failed to keep a proper lookout for oncoming traffic while making a right turn at a non-signalised T-junction.
Toh subsequently collided into the victim who was riding a motorcycle and who was unable to avoid Toh’s bus which had encroached into his path.
The impact caused the victim to be flung off his motorcycle and onto the road, and he subsequently succumbed to the multiple injuries suffered as a result of the accident.
