A 20-year old who full-time national serviceman, Jonathan Chua Jia Loone, was sentenced to reformative training after pleading guilty to three charges for offences involving the sexual penetration of two minors who were both 14-years old.
An additional five charges were taken into consideration for the purpose of sentencing.
Chua befriended the first victim on Facebook and subsequently had sex with her in a toilet at Serangoon Community Centre on their second meeting and also at the staircase of a block of HDB flats on a subsequent occasion.
Chua also befriended the second victim on Facebook and they subsequently exchanged intimate photographs before he had sex with her in a toilet at the VivoCity shopping mall.
Chua had committed the offences while he was on 18 months’ probation for two similar offences and five offences were committed when he was on bail.
The Prosecution took the view that the aggravating factors in this case included Chua’s sexual exploitation and the fact that he did not use any contraception. The Court was also told that Chua’s conduct was less than exemplary during his National Service with the Singapore Police Force and that he had clearly known of the consequences of his actions.
